One of my goals as a Biblical life coach is to create and dream up ways for women in ministry to be equipped, challenged, and discipled as they work on the front lines of ministry. Sisters, this is a DIFFICULT calling that we have from our Savior, to die to ourselves and to give away every ounce of our lives for His purposes! He has not left us alone, nor does He expect us to do this in our own strength. He has given us His Word, community, and the strength of His Spirit to go out and live as His redeemed daughters in a broken world.
We each have a story that God is writing with our lives, and we have the privilege of entering the stories of others as we walk along with them. God has given us an amazing story to follow, model, and draw from as we do His work here; that of Jesus while He was here on earth! Many centuries ago, the early church developed a “calendar” of sorts, based on the rhythms and rituals of God’s people through the narrative of Scripture. Today, this calendar is known as the “liturgical”calendar, or Church (big “C”) calendar. Perhaps this isn’t a practice you’ve held in your own life, or in the faith tradition where you are currently serving. You may even be skeptical of why a modern-day, New Testament believer would want to follow this practice, as it may bring to mind some of the more legalistic or empty rituals of other religious observances.
I have grown to appreciate and value this practice as it allows me to walk through the life of Christ each year, founding myself in Scripture and truth, and reminding myself of the life of this One who brought an upside-down Kingdom into a broken world; this life that I am to model and put on each day! I love what was written in Seasons, the Liturgical Year guide compiled by The Village Church: “...the seasons of the Church are really just a way to center our lives around the gospel by entering the story of Jesus each year. It’s a practical way to follow the words of Paul in Romans 13:14, ‘But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.’”
As we look forward to 2019, Simple Deep Life will be offering opportunities for women in ministry to enter into the story of Jesus through guides, discipleship groups, and periodic teaching to deepen our understanding of Scripture used in the liturgical calendar. You can learn more about what 2019 will look like for the equipping portion of Simple Deep Life here.
As always, personal coaching is available as we move into the New Year and consider goals and dreams for all that is unfolding before us in 2019! My greatest joy is sitting (virtually and in person!) with women who are seeking the Lord for clarity, comfort, or confirmation and assisting them to construct a plan to move forward into the vision God has for them. I am currently scheduling inquiry calls for 2019 and want to invite YOU into that no-cost, no obligation opportunity!
Sisters, let’s finish 2018 strong as we celebrate the birth of our Savior, reflect on all that 2018 has brought to us, and look forward to all that awaits us in the New Year! Are you looking for a focus word for 2019? Grab my FREE Focus Word worksheet over on the resources page.
It has been a PRIVILEGE and an honor to serve you this year in 2018. Thank you for joining me and allowing me to speak truth over your life. Blessings for Christmas and New Years!!
